Victims of 2-car crash might have suffered brain injuries

by | Apr 14, 2017 | Brain Injuries |

It takes no more than a blink of an eye for a car crash to happen. Sometimes the devastation that occurs in that split second is immeasurable, especially if victims suffered mild or traumatic brain injuries. These injuries can be life changing — not only for the victims but also for their families. A recent two-vehicle crash in Ontario sent several people to a hospital with head injuries.

Reportedly, the incident happened in Ottawa at approximately 9 a.m. on a recent Wednesday. Apparently, two vehicles collided, causing one driver to be trapped inside the car. Firefighters used cutters and spreaders to extricate the victim, and emergency workers rushed three people to a medical facility.

Paramedics first treated the injured victims on the scene. One woman — reported to be in her 20s — suffered several fractures and a head injury, leaving her in critical condition. A man, age 28, also suffered a head injury and is also said to be critical. A 55-year-old man was stable, although he suffered serious extremity and abdominal injuries. Ottawa police said the accident was under investigation.

The man and woman who suffered head injuries will likely both have to face mountains of medical bills. Also, depending on the severity of the brain injuries, they might not be able to return to work for some time — or ever. It is as yet unclear which party or parties may be responsible for this crash. That individual may be sued in civil court if the other injured victims decide to retain the services of an experienced Ontario personal injury lawyer to help them pursue claims for personal injuries.
