Brain injuries may be the result of Toronto pedestrian accident

by | May 15, 2017 | Brain Injuries |

Pedestrians on the busy streets of cities in Ontario will always be at risk. Commuters in one area of Toronto were likely caught up in delays after several roads were closed after an accident in which a pedestrian was knocked down by a vehicle. Reportedly, the victim suffered serious head trauma that may well have caused brain injuries.

According to the Toronto police report, paramedics rushed to the accident scene shortly after 7 a.m. on a recent Wednesday. An emergency vehicle then transported a 40-year-old male pedestrian to the hospital for treatment of serious head injuries. Police say a delivery truck struck the man.

All the roads in that area were closed, and vehicular traffic — including a streetcar — was diverted via alternative routes. An official investigation is underway. Authorities said the video footage of the delivery vehicle’s dashcam might provide valuable information. Charges have not been laid, but might follow pending the conclusion of the investigation.

Victims of pedestrian or other accidents in Ontario that are caused by the negligence of other parties are entitled to seek recovery of damages. In cases in which brain injuries are suffered, the impact on the lives of the victims is much more far-reaching than merely financial. They might never be able to live a normal life again, and although money cannot change that fact, it might provide the means to make life more comfortable. With the skilled support and guidance of a lawyer whose focus is on personal injury claims regarding brain injuries, restitution for damages may be achieved.
